Eaglesgate Retail Village backs 139th Blackford Highland Games - Saturday 31st May 2008

Local business Eaglesgate Retail Village is set to back the 139th Blackford Highland Games this year by sponsoring the Pipe Band at the annual community event which takes place on Saturday 31 May from 12.30pm at the Games Park, Blackford.

In addition to the traditional Pipe Band with its musical demonstrations, the Blackford Highland Games - one of the first in the season of the Scottish Highland Games calendar - will play host to an exhilarating programme of field and track events as well as entertainment including a fairground and stalls.

This year's Highland gathering will feature the usual range of 'heavy' games such as throwing the hammer, putting the shot, tossing the caber and the notorious tug of war as well as running, cycling races and Highland dancing.

Eaglesgate Retail Village, anchored by Baxters, Tiso and the Tullibardine Distillery, decided to sponsor the Pipe Band at this year's Highland Games to support and encourage the local community.

Alec Green, a partner at Workman, managing agents for Eaglesgate Retail Village, said: 'We are delighted to be sponsoring the Pipe Band at the local Highland Games here in Blackford. The Games represent a fantastic and fun day out for all the family, a time-honoured event that not only brings together the community but roots the important Highland heritage and traditions in contemporary times.'

The Blackford Highland Games, supported by Eaglesgate Retail Village, takes place on Saturday 31 May from 12.30pm at the Games Park, Blackford.
